Old School Pizza Burgers Recipe

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment.

  2. Brown the meat:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef (and sausage, if using), onion, and bell pepper until meat is browned and veggies are soft. Drain excess grease.

  3. Season it up:
Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and marinara/pizza sauce. Simmer on low for 5–10 minutes so the flavors come together.

  4. Build your pizza burgers:
Place bun halves on the baking sheet, cut-side up. Spoon the meat mixture evenly over each half. Top generously with mozzarella and a sprinkle of Parmesan.

  5. Bake until melty and golden:
Bake for about 10–12 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and starting to brown. You can broil them for 1–2 minutes at the end for extra melty goodness.

  6. Serve hot:
Garnish with a little extra oregano or red pepper flakes if you like!

🔁 Variations & Tips:

  • Pepperoni pizza burgers: Add diced pepperoni into the meat mix.

  • Use Texas toast or French bread instead of buns for a crunchier version.

  • Make it cheesy: Add a slice of provolone or American under the shredded cheese for extra melty layers.
