Until what age does a woman need a man in her life?

It’s a conversation we sometimes overhear between friends over coffee, other times in more intimate discussions, or even on social media, between two clear-cut statements. The question seems simple: how long do we need a man in our lives? But upon closer inspection, it’s not a matter of age… it’s a matter of desire, balance, and deep longing.

Need or want: two very different realities

Today, a woman can do anything. She works, drives, travels alone, raises her children if she wishes, and makes her own decisions. Men are no longer essential for opening a jar of jam or carrying boxes.  But some things escape technology or autonomy: connection, complicity, the feeling of having a unique place in someone’s life.

But the person opposite you still needs to know how to give it. And sometimes, it’s better to be alone than in a hollow or exhausting relationship.

A man can be a support… or a burden

Over time, priorities change. We’re no longer looking for “someone at all costs,” but  for someone who brings value, peace, and true sharing . At 20, we hope to be chosen. At 40, 60, or 70, we choose. And that ability is a real power.
