Why do we drool in our sleep and how to fix it?

Nasal blockage:

A blocked nose forces you to breathe through your mouth, which can lead to drooling.

Sleep apnea:

This breathing disorder is often associated with drooling and snoring.

Drugs :

Some treatments, such as antibiotics or neuroleptics, can stimulate excessive saliva production.

Overweight:

It can worsen sleep apnea and, therefore, hypersalivation.

Neurological disorders:

Conditions such as stroke or diseases affecting muscle control can contribute to drooling.

How to reduce or stop drooling?

Fortunately, there are several solutions to limit or eliminate this problem:

  1. Clean your sinuses

A stuffy nose is a common cause of hypersalivation. To clear your airways:

  • Take a hot shower before going to sleep.
  • Use essential oils like eucalyptus.
  • Apply a decongestant, such as Vicks Vaporub.
